Summer Intensives 2018
This two-week course offers a strong sampling of the Sanford Meisner influenced Anthropos Approach to actor training, while touching on the importance of dramatic structure. Students will meet for an intensive three hours per day over the course of two weeks.
High School Partnerships
With an eye to forming the human person in as holistic a manner as possible--that is, by intentionally addressing the Intellectual, Human, Apostolic and Artistic elements of the person, StoryStrong seeks opportunities to partner with institutes of learning already providing exemplary intellectual formation.
The Anthropos Approach
This nine-month immersion fosters the formation of the next generation of storytellers, specifically in the areas of dramatic acting and writing. The work explores a wide range of imaginative exercises, both improvisational and scripted. Grounded in a distinctly Catholic view of the human person, each session aims to hone the actor's craft, cultivate empathy, and nurture the soul.
Our storytelling mentorships are for high school teens of all backgrounds, seeking a safe, healthy place to reach for personal, spiritual, intellectual, and artistic excellence through a process of hard work, discipline, and dedication to the principles of craft.
How will you respond to your call to greatness?
SEMESTER 1: DRAMATIC ACTING
The first four months of the process are devoted to the craft of acting. Through a series of improvisational exercises, participants will grow in self-knowledge and spontaneity, develop a clearer point of view, and deepen their understanding of human behavior. This first part of the process will conclude with each teen participating in a fully-staged dramatic scene.
SEMESTER 2: DRAMATIC WRITING
Second semester will continue deepening participants' acting skills while focusing more specifically on the dramatic writing process. By the end of the year, teens will have written, staged, and performed an original piece of theatre.
